Mystery House postcard

Call it a Mystery House, Magic Spot, or Magnetic Vortex -- every good tourist area needs one of these tilted house attractions to amaze visitors by repealing the laws of gravity.

In the 1950's, St. Augustine had Al Mosher's Mystery House to confuse the senses, conveniently located on A1A just across from the venerable St. Augustine Alligator Farm. The postcard reproduced above shows Al himself showing off his creation just as "You saw it in Life Magazine."

In the 1950's there was also another tilted house attraction in Florida just outside of Haines City, the House of Mystery. Today all we have left is the uphill illusion of Spook Hill in Lake Wales.
