The Sarasota Reptile Farm and Zoo, located two miles east of downtown Sarasota on Fruitville Road, featured reptile wrangler "Texas" Jim Mitchell (seen above) along with a large collection of gators, snakes, monkeys, birds, and other animals. After approximately thirty years of operation it closed in 1965.
